About the Item

"Shaped Canvas" is an abstract oil painting created by Peg Fritsch. Fritsch shaped the canvas itself with an abstraction of geometric shapes. There is some damage to the lower right corner. The artist signed this piece on the back. Frame is included. Artwork Size: 29 1/4" x 49" Artist Bio: Peg Fritsch was a Wisconsin-based artist that worked with unique supports for her paintings, including vinyl and shaped canvas. The David Barnett Gallery collected her work and held an exhibition for her compositions when she was a student and a young artist. This work is a fantastic example of her innovative painting strategy and the result of a fascination with innovative painters before her like Lucio Fontana, Kenneth Noland, Frank Stella, and Ellsworth Kelly.
