About the Item

Quim Bové is a Catalan artist known for his symbolic, abstract paintings executed through his dynamic brush strokes that are reflected across his collections. Much of Quim’s early influence came from compatriot painters like Dali, Miro, Picasso and Tapies; however, the interest in the abstraction led him to connect with American Abstract expressionist movement as well. Quim took a stance against what he believed to be a rigid academic system of the arts and began his self-taught training as a painter in 1978. Quim thought his inspiration and creativity could not be corrupted by others criterion or academic rules; he kept this mentality after his earlier academic experience. Despite his position towards academia, he had a rigorous self-teaching method derived from Master Painter’s manifestos and techniques. The pivotal point in his career that changed the philosophy of his art work and his technique happened when he moved to a place of great mystical power and energy, the Sonoran Desert in Arizona, USA. This important event brought about the beginning of his inspiration behind the relationship of beings, the energies that surround them, and the connection to the metaphysical forces of the universe, thus constituting his symbolic abstract signature style. His restlessness for experimenting with different techniques has evolved and culminated into his unique and distinctive style which he describes as his own calligraphy. This is represented throughout his most recent series: “Architecture of the Universe.” He developed and refined a sophisticated layering technique that creates depth, transcending the two-dimensional form of the painting. This results in a powerful and complex surface in which the reflection of the spectator becomes part of the art piece creating a visual dialogue. Quim Bové has participated in over thirty solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions. He has exhibited his works in multiple international gallery venues and is collected in private and public collections including but not limited: Los Angeles, Dubai, Beirut, Chicago, Miami, Boston, San Francisco, Phoenix, Seattle, Atlanta, Scottsdale, Denver, Santa Fe, Kansas City, Toronto, Barcelona, Zaragoza, Vitoria, Tarragona, Lleida, Nice, Dallas, New York, Spain, France, Japan, UK, Italy, Germany, U.K., U.S.A., Mexico, Canada, U.A.E., China, Principality of Monaco, Andorra, and Liechtenstein. Quim Bové now resides in Los Angeles, where he has his studio in downtown.

What the Night Delivers Black and Yellow Art Abstract Painting, Contemporary Art
By Gina Parr
Located in Deddington, GB
What the night delivers" an original abstract contemporary landscape by Gina Parr and other works from the series "Love or Money", explore the deep emotional connection with land and sea scape that the Artist's father gave to her; taking her with him on his day and night fishing trips when she was a child. Working with the memories and emotions of both joy and saudade for time past and life experience gained, her practice reflects her fundamental need to express this bitter- sweet nature of the human condition through abstracted scape and form. In this work Parr is interested in conveying both the joy and the apprehension of her memory of an overnight trip in the darkness to fish with her father. Gina Parr is available online and in our gallery at Wychwood Art. Gina works predominantly in the medium of painting, but also photographs when traveling: her way of painting whilst on the move. Her work is driven by autobiographical themes and natural reference, exploring the human condition through connections to place, time, space and memory. She has exhibited widely in galleries and art fairs in the UK and completed commissions in The Middle East, Belguim and London. Her works are held in collections Worldwide including Keble College Oxford, Director of Jestico + Whiles Architects London, President of the Boston's Children's Museum USA, and Goldman Sachs Senior Economist, London. Originally trained as a Fine Artist, graduating with a First Class BA Honours Degree, she went on to Chelsea College of Art to study Set...
