Sipario is the curtain of the opera house. Imagine you as audience sitting in front of the curtain, waiting for the show to start: with anticipation, full of curiosity and pleasing expectation of something good going to happen in front of your eyes, it's like life, We are thrilled to wait for the future, even unknown but we will keep going, hoping and preparing to take all the life challenges.
Raffaele starts with the basics: he obtains the best quality linen canvas from a nearby mill in Milan, using a classic technique to prepare the canvas according to tradition: with the rabbit skin glue. In traditional oil painting as practiced by the Renaissance painters, rabbit skin glue was used to coat the canvas. This is necessary because the linseed oil that forms the base of most oil paint contains linolenic acid that will affect the canvas fibers over time. The rabbit-skin glue is a natural material that helps to seal the canvas and stretch it. Besides preparing his canvas, he usually creates his preferred oil colors by grinding his own color pigments from mineral colors and mixes oil pigments himself, instead of using commercial industrial color pigments.

BIOGRAPHY OF RAFFAELE CIOFFI
Born in Milan in 1971, Raffaele Cioffi is a passionate lover of painting when in his teens and a graduate from Italy’s top art institution “Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera” in Milan, through years of exploration on light, shadow, lines and shades to reflect on canvas, these are fundamentals for the development of his art language, Raffaele becomes a master in expressing his abstract minimalist perspective through his works.
