About the Item
Mixed media painting, heavily textured. Colours are metallic gold, off white, and hague blue. This piece has been layered continuously, and then layers peeled back in areas, to accentuate the areas of raised relief. This painting is reflective, and the use of gold really shines when the light hits the painting from different angles. This painting is perfect for any modern interior, as the colours are neutral, but also timeless.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:
My paintings explore the relationship between elements such as the skies, the oceans,the natural environment such as the formation of rocks, cliffs, and weathered material. In my work, I aim to bring together certain properties of each of these elements to create an experience and understanding of the world and the contrasting relationships between each of these ideas.
The use of texture in my work is formed using material which has been subjected to the forces of the weather, and I love to use ‘untouched’ and ‘natural’ material in my work to form the basis of all my paintings.
The use of ink in my work has been a work in progress that I have been experimenting with over the past year. The use of this new medium has proved to be invaluable to the message and direction that I would like my work to take. On each of the works, I manipulate the Ink using air from my mouth as I want to form a stronger relationship with the canvas and the way that the ink Is manipulated. In this body of works, I have aimed to bring together certain properties of the natural environment and materials. The marks and the movement in the paintings have been made purposefully to evoke emotions of nature and the rhythm of the outside forces.
I have worked with materials to ‘crack’ the surface of the paintings to add elements of physicality and the deterioration of surfaces which is current in the natural environment and particularly on surfaces closer to the coast.
