About the Item

Randy Browning’s paintings sparkle with the breath of life. His delightful contemporary paintings offer his viewers a unique way of regarding contemporary still life, combined with old-world attention to detail. Browning feels that to truly observe an object, one must be absorbed by it. The large scale of the paintings helps people focus on the incredible variety and subtlety of apparently common objects. In the triptych, Randy is playing with a red and white striped dinnerware set placed upon a blue and off-white background. The teapot draws you into the middle panel and makes your eyes happily jump to the outside panels to view the whole optical illusion. Randy Browning’s paintings sparkle with the breath of life. His delightful fruit and vegetable paintings offer his viewers a unique way of regarding contemporary still life, combined with old-world attention to detail A professional artist since the age of 13, Browning was taught from childhood by his artist and illustrator father. He went on to attend the Arts Students League in New York, where he received the Merit Scholarship and studied under Robert Emil Shulz, Jack Faragasso, and George Passantino. Later he was affiliated with the Salmagundi Club in New York City, studying there with Louis de Donato. Although Browning explores a range of coloring possibilities, his work is distinguished primarily by the intensity of its coloration and high level of detail. For a number of years, he has traveled in Mexico, learning about the various indigenous cultures, and now resides permanently in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico. His latest series of paintings reflects his studies of meditation. Browning feels that to truly observe an object, one must be absorbed by it. Meditation is the principal way to achieve this. The large scale of the paintings helps people focus on the incredible variety and subtlety of apparently common objects.

Throwing Some Shapes I, II, III Triptych, Original Naïve Still Life Painting
Located in Deddington, GB
A series of paintings exploring the dynamic and expressive shapes of pot plants. I love the way that nature expresses itself; plants often remind me of dancers, but being rooted in solid earth or a heavy pot their 'moves' seem to express an un-self-conscious celebration of life, and a contented acceptance of their earthbound limitations. Throwing Some Shapes I ,II, III by Kerry Louise Bennett...
