"Samba Rio" Abstract Expressionist Figural
A vibrant abstract painting in red, black, white, iridescent teal and shimmering metallic gold, by California-based artist, Ricardo de Silva (American/Brazilian, 20th C). Signature in the bottom left corner reads, "R. de Silva," dated in the bottom center, "4/6/86," and titled, "Samba Rio," in the bottom right corner. Paper size: 26"H x 19.75"W, Mat size: 30"H x 24"W
From a collection of Ricardo de Silva's work and memorabilia. DeSilva was born in Brazil and grew up in Los Angeles. He was a gallery owner, first in Santa Barbara in the 1960's and 70's, then in San Jose in the 1980's. He was dedicated to promoting the work of talented upcoming artists, including Kogyo and Hasui Kiyochika, Robert Frame, Jim Stuckenberg, Alice Robertson Carr, Deborah Eve Alastra, Russell Kelly, and Diana Mark.

- Condition:Artwork in very good condition. Some rippling to paper and cracks in paint due to artist's technique. Edges show tonal aging, two small reinforced tears at edge of paper, bottom left corner is bent -- all of which are concealed under new black mat.
