In his painting, Robert Hammerstiel is in constant search of the balance and harmony of form. In his drastic reduction to the physical essentials and the colourful placarding, he creates an incomparable tension, which, however, always remains in balance in his compositions. It is a play with that tension that Hammerstiel brilliantly pushes to the extreme. The depiction of the figures is drastically reduced to the essential and thus left to complete anonymity, the colours are strikingly bright.
