About
I was born in England and came with my family at a very young age to Israel and grew up on Kibbutz. The conflict between the values I absorbed from British culture that I inherited, and those socialist-inspired values that I grew up with on kibbutz, shaped my cultural identity. The feeling of being an outsider, of not wholly belonging, has accompanied me throughout my life. Through this prism I look at the world, both the individual and collective worlds, and react to them .The cultural conflict that determines my identity is the inspiration for my work.
The mediums at the center of my creation, drawing and sculpture, motivate and nourish each other, and strive for constant movement in matter and body. The encounter between language and recorded intensity creates a conceptual and poetic environment that raises questions about the relationship between object and space, between two-dimensional and three-dimensional, between organic and artificial, between concrete and abstract.
I aspire to create art that communicates with the viewer, inspires compassion and empathy through introspection into the soul, and touches on the weak, private and collective points of Israeli society and culture. On the other hand, it seeks to remain vague, enigmatic and indecipherable.
