About this works Ryo Hikosaka says ""Questioning the ephemeral by highlighting the illusory and inconstant nature of perception. In a second period, I created a sculpted copper frame enclosing a random oxidation pattern very similar to a painting. This work raises the question of whether the viewer perceives two or three dimensions."
Ryo Hikosaka is graduated of the Beaux Arts de Tokyo and the prestigious École Boulle of Paris. A Parisian for over ten years, he launched his career as a freelance artist after working as a patina specialist at Atelier Steaven Richard and for the Cartier House. He works passionately with metal to make it speak and question us. The uniqueness of his work lies in this balance between classical fine art techniques and his Japanese sensibility. Several of his works are already in Japanese collections.
