About the Item
In Away Again, Sarah Brenneman explores spatial rhythm through bold, angular forms and crisp, layered color. This acrylic on canvas features a palette of blues, whites, and greys punctuated by sharp lines of red, teal, and black. The shapes shift between positive and negative space, evoking abstracted architecture or cascading planes of light. Measuring 32 x 28 inches, the painting is unframed, ready to hang as is or to frame to your preference. Signed on the back by the artist. This dynamic work makes a sophisticated statement in contemporary interiors and is ideal for collectors drawn to structured abstraction and color-driven compositions. Ships carefully packed.
Sarah Brenneman is an American artist based in West Orange, New Jersey working primarily in painting. Her overarching interest lies in abstraction as a universal language and she works primarily in acrylics on large and small canvases and panels as well as on more intimately sized works on paper with gouache, watercolor and pencil. Brenneman’s paintings speak to the long tradition of American abstraction. She is influenced by painters from the 1950’s New York School, such as Helen Frankenthaler and Willem de Kooning, as well as earlier 20th century painters like Arthur Dove and Mardsen Hartley. Sarah Brenneman’s (b.1975, Middletown, OH) intimate abstractions are layers of referents of play. Beginning with a central form, her compositions topple out sequentially, each shape building on the impression of the last. Brenneman sources her forms from objects in her periphery, often in her home, rendering her paintings almost autobiographical, and forging a sense of familiarity. Brenneman received her BFA from Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, OH, and her MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. Her work has been exhibited throughout the Tristate area, as well as internationally in Busan, South Korea, Reims, France, and St. Petersburg, Russia. Brenneman’s work is included in the permanent collections at the Aspen Contemporary Art Collection, the Cleveland Clinic, the Sprint Collection, and The Progressive Corporation. The artist is based in West Orange, New Jersey.

Style : Kalla’s work can be represented by his commitment to experimenting with social engagement through the arts. It is here his strength lies. Through his deep connection to a cultural expression of a universal spirituality and passionate sense of humanity Kalla, continuously draws people from all communities into acts of creativity in the belief that through creativity people are empowered and communities move incrementally closer to truth.
His poetry and paintings are spiritually intuited. While his poems create a secretive world of words, where silence speaks his paintings are calligraphic and draw on the same silent unknowing of invented texts. His paintings represent moments on the continuum; a slice snatched from his deeper hidden journey.
The strength of Kalla’s work is that it represents an Indian artist’s quest for an indigenous tenor rather than a superficial inventory of native motifs, there is nothing about his work which relies on a static Indian Identity.
