Sarah Fosse
View of St Paul’s-original modern realism cityscape painting-contemporary art

2024

About the Item

"View of St. Paul’s" by Sarah Fosse is a captivating cityscape painting that offers a unique perspective of London's iconic landmarks. Crafted with acrylic on canvas, Fosse's blend of surrealism and realism transports viewers into a vibrant dreamscape of urban beauty. In this mesmerizing artwork, the River Thames takes center stage, winding its way through the heart of the city. Across the water, the majestic silhouette of St. Paul's Cathedral dominates the skyline, surrounded by a mix of iconic London architecture. But Fosse's interpretation adds a twist: buildings seem to sway and dance in a surreal wavy movement, lending an enchanting charm to the scene. The color palette is as lively as the bustling city itself, with bold splashes of colors painting the canvas. Vibrant blues, greens, yellows, and reds intermingle to create a kaleidoscope of hues that evoke the dynamic energy of London. Signed by the artist, "View of St. Paul’s" is a masterpiece ready to be displayed and admired. Whether hanging in a gallery or gracing the walls of a private collection, this artwork serves as a timeless homage to the beauty and grandeur of London's skyline. You can find "View of St. Paul’s" available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art in Chelsea, as well as online, providing art enthusiasts with the opportunity to bring a piece of London's enchanting vistas into their own space. Artist biography: Sarah Fosse was born in Liverpool and grew up in Jersey in the Channel Islands. She has travelled extensively before settling in London in 2005. She has been painting her whole life, having inherited her artistic ability from her mother, a professional artist. Her work has been exhibited extensively throughout Europe inluding a recent sell out solo show in London. Her paintings have been featured by the likes of The Wall Street Journal, Vogue and the BBC and thanks to an ever-increasing following she is able to boast private and corporate collectors across Europe, North America, Africa, Asia and Australia. Derain and Matisse were early influencers for Sarah. Her passion for Fauvism and Expressionism is unmistakably conveyed by her bold, vibrant colour palette and the manner in which she deconstructs and distorts the urban landscape. Having always lived near water (be it coastal or river) Sarah has a fascination with its movement, reflections and energy, which has also inspired her unique style. Working and living in London, she uses her adopted home city and the travel it affords her as the inspiration for her work. London, New York, Hong Kong and Paris all feature regularly within her portfolio as she cites them as favourite destinations of hers.

Contemporary abstract painting. The use of Stajan-Ferkul's distinct neutral palette is carried through into her abstract paintings where emphasis is put on simplifying the composition. Textures and patterns play a large role in her minimal yet powerful work. // Andrea Stajan-Ferkul is a Canadian artist whose work conveys a sense of experimentation through the use of paint, fabric collage and abstract mark-making. While not exclusive to fashion, dresses have been a compositional focus throughout her oeuvre. With an emphasis on timelessness, her series of dress paintings shift between realistic representation and interpretive impressions. In contrast, her series of abstract works embrace minimalism, considerate to a restrained palette and composition. Stajan-Ferkul began her career in fashion advertising before shifting her focus to fine art in 2000. Her work has been exhibited widely through galleries and art fairs, and hangs in private and public collections across Canada, US and Europe. A graduate of Sheridan College of Art and Design, Andrea's paintings can be found in numerous public and private collections, her work has been published in magazines and book covers, and prints are distributed internationally. In 2009, Stajan-Ferkul was invited to exhibit her work in Ottawa’s Rideau Hall, hosted by (then) Governor General of Canada, Michaëlle Jean. keywords: abstract, minimal art, minimalism, grey, pink, modern art...
