About the Item
Primary Colour Series-Dusk to Dawn is one of Shizico Yi's latest projects, inspired by Japanese woodblock Print and the a nod to calligraphy tradition.
Painting Sunlight as its shadowy forms-
The painting is a continuation of Shizico Yi's "Sunlit Series" where Shizico develops her visual language, with and around the colour of yellow: it's an exploration of the healing power of yellow and the celebration of the sun light which bring much needed warmth after the long cold winter in the UK. This is the reason why Gold Leaf was introduced to the paintings in this series.
Shizico paint this painting from the dusk ( facing east while the sun sets in the west, casting shadows of these leaves of dahlias), to the next morning ( painted facing west, while the sun rises in the east, casting dapple shades of the fleeting morning light through the tree leaves)
About Sunlit Series:
Shizico Yi create a series of plein air paintings in Summer to Autumn, this "Sunlit Series" meticulously crafted on all mediums, gold leaf gilding on her brushstrokes captured within a restrained palette of sunlight(gold leaf) and mono palettes for each painting. With strokes of gold, ink, gesso and acrylic, she orchestrates a striking visual symphony.
Each painting within this series aims to negotiate an unique facet, where the red hues engage in a dialogue with the layers of images inspired by her garden and the wildlife who come to visit almost daily in Summer and Autumn time. Shizico's unique take on certain painterly materials expressed fully in this painting, gold leaf on dark ink bring forms in the garden to live on canvas. She wanted to create a mystic imaginary world through the mono tone of colours. The interplay contrasting elements upon the textured surface of gold leaves and ink adds another layer of tactile fascination.
This Sunlit Series nestles within her "Golden Period," a profound exploration centred around the captivating yellow. It is a colour she believes having the healing power for those afflicted by grief. The result is a breath-taking testimony to the profound connection between the materials, the subject (the deeper meaning of her garden), and the artist herself. © Shizico Yi

- Original-Sunlit-Spring in Autumn Abstract-Expression-Gold Leaf-UK Awarded ArtistLocated in London, GBThe 'Sunlit' series is an exploration of the colour yellow and its healing effect to the ones who were impacted by grief. This is one of the artist, Shizico Yi's personal favourites for its subtle changing of the golden tones when viewing in different time of the day. The pictorial language in this series pays homage to Japanese Woodblock prints. In her latest series, titled 'Prayers,' Shizico employs various type of Dahlias as symbols of peace. Dahlias, which bloom in autumn, brighten up the garden amidst the early winter chill, symbolizing regeneration and hope for life. The name of the painting is a reference to a poem by Du Fu (712-770 AD), one of his poignant poems that portrays the landscape in a war zone in his hometown. After nature reclaims the places where people once lived. As an artist working in the studio, there's a sense of helplessness in the face of such changing time. Through these paintings in Prayer series, Shizico aims to convey her heartfelt prayers in times like these. It's also a form of self-reflection on the role of the artist in society. *Delivery Worldwide, only £18 lowest flat rate shipping charge, guarantee shipping by Royal Mail with End to End International Tracking.
