With strokes of Gold, Oil, Gesso and Acrylic, Shizico painted a visual symphony of abstract expression in this on-going series [Landscape Memories]; it's a part of her [Sunlit Series] where she developed and explored all sorts of mediums on colour of yellow; in this case, gold leaf gilding brushstrokes of dahlias and lime trees in her garden in the summer evening in her garden, painted in situ.
Shizico's unique approach to paintings, erasing, rewriting, and destroying the landscape in the background through bold strokes of gold leaf on the top layers in this series, works on the concept of bringing distraction to creation. The series exemplifies Shizico Yi's artistic vision, which is ever-evolving and experimenting.

The [Sunlit Series] is a profound exploration of captivating yellow/gold leaf.
Yellow is a colour she believes has the healing power for those afflicted by grief.
The golden hues engage in a dialogue with the layers of landscape in the background. The interplay of these contrasting elements ( the textured surface of gold leaves against the oil paint of the landscape) adds another layer of fascination.
The result is a breath-taking testimony to the profound connection between the materials, the subject (the deeper meaning of the landscape and the memories), and with the artist-self.

With design and film background, Shizico combines her interests making installation projects which relate to artist's personal life in relation to the society and human condition at large.
Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art awarded by UEL, UK 2017; she had completed a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL. London. She is also the Winner of Women Film Makers: Best Shorts Competition 2013 Los Angels. USA.
