Sunset Song Series stands as one of the most iconic works featured in the upcoming Summer Exhibition UK, 2025—a rare and luminous collection of latest artworks we’re thrilled to present.
Painted entirely en plein air under moonlight, with no artificial light to guide her, Shizico Yi embraced the night with unfiltered presence. Relying solely on instinct, memory, and decades of intimate knowledge of her hand-mixed pigments, she rendered the shifting skyline and the interplay of light and shadow through pure feeling and confidence and understanding of her craft.
The painting captures more than just a night-scape—it is a meditation on seeing without looking, on trust in one’s craft, and on the deep, expressive power of painting.
The colour and tonal contrast between evening blue and sunset red against velvety dark green trees evokes a poetic stillness, making this small work one of Shizico’s most celebrated pieces in this year—a quiet triumph of vision, presence, and artistic devotion.

Dr. Shizico Yi is a UK artist working on installations, films and paintings; the documentary nature of her work often concerns about the loss, repetition, the everyday subject and memories .
With design and film background, Shizico combines her interests making installation projects which relate to artist's personal life in relation to the society and human condition at large.
Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art awarded by UEL, UK 2017; she had completed a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL. London. She is also the Winner of Women Film Makers: Best Shorts Competition 2013 Los Angels. USA.

Shizico Yi's work aims to explore artistic obsession through repetitive documentation of the domestic and the everyday.
