About the Item
"Autumn Series" is one of the most personal projects of Shizico Yi; the sensitive colours, her signature expressive and confident brushstrokes are making the series an instant classic in Shizico's outstanding art career.

About the series:
To document the streets they've walked and her late dog's favourite trees, Shizico embarked on a series of Plein air paintings in autumn after her Labrador died; Autumn is also the season when her late-dog Favor gone over to the rainbow bridge. The project started in 2020 and continues in Autumn each year.
This is a large pond in Shizu's local heritage park where willow trees and a small island in the middle of the large pond provides a safe haven for birds and wildlife and offers a private corner for Shizico to paint and to contemplate.
The colours of the turning leaves symbolises aging. Standing hours painting plein air in chilly autumn air kept the artist alerted to one's vulnerability,
yet, within the colours of nature, Shizico finds the energy of restoration which allows her time to contemplate the sweet memory of loved ones who left.

Dr. Shizico Yi is a London based artist, working on installations, films and paintings; the documentary nature of her work often concerns the loss, repetition, the everyday subject and memories. With a design and film background, Yi combines her interests making installation projects which relate to artist's personal life in relation to the society and human condition at large.
Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art awarded by UEL, UK and a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL, London. She is also the winner of Women Film Makers: Best Shorts Competition 2013, Los Angeles, USA.

Shizico Yi's work aims to explore artistic obsession through repetitive documentation of the domestic and the everyday. Yi uses painting, drawing, photography, large-scale installations, moving image projections, and two-dimensional visual images to articulate her relationship to family and memories, and time.
