"When we rise above ourselves, our souls also rise and begin an arduous venture which leads to the fulfillment of our innate potential," states artist Shyun Song. This hopeful concept is captured here in shades of blue. "As an intense observer, I am interested in mythology and psychology. Whenever I come across a concept that sums up an element of psychology, I start sketching. I use geometric shapes and lines which I have found versatile in illustrating abstract concepts. When transferring the sketch to a canvas, I would still improvise and make specific color choices until I feel satisfied. Since my paintings begin with intangible concepts, I take the title of each painting as seriously as the aesthetic value of the piece. I believe that titles which resonate with our universal experience in life can create a deep human connection between an artist and the viewer."
