It is inspired directly by a story of a floating iceberg seen by Reykjavik citizens, something never seen before near Iceland. "Negative space interplays with the deep hues of poured color - evocative of the crystalline blue and dark gray of waves against white foam and blowing mist at sea," says artist Dorothy Dunn. An ethereal abstract seascape with layers of blue, green, and yellow, punctuated with black. "This painting was created using multiple raw and controlled pours of transparent and saturated acrylic paint on canvas to achieve layered depth and interest."
About the Artist
From childhood on, Dorothy was always eager about painting. Her grandfather encouraged her to graduate from a finger-painting enthusiast to a more mature and serious artist. Dorothy’s approach to her abstract artwork entails pouring paint in transparent layers to create sweeping colors across the canvas. Regardless, she manages to stay true to her childhood roots: “To this day, my clothes and hands always reflect the colors I am working with,” says Dorothy. “And I once again rediscovered the joys of finger-painting with my children!”
