Artist's Commentary:
"As an artist who is regularly around art of many genres, I discovered I enjoy things in tension. My Fragmentary collection is born of a notion that explores this idea with loose, flowing, abstract compositions that span multiple panels. My aim is to present large swaths of translucent, nuanced, landscape-inspired colorfields and break them across the finite bounds of multiple, divided canvases. My hope is for these artworks to evoke a sense of something larger than what is seen on the literal face of the canvases…as when one sits back in a room and looks out through distant windows to a surrounding landscape, seeing only portions of the whole. The viewer is left to piece the missing elements together in their own vision. Pieces in this collection stand as a reminder of how our own personal instincts and experiences impact our perceptions. Although we seldom have perfect information, we intuitively make connections and fill gaps, creating a narrative that is distinctly personal."
