Steven Rehfeld's "Mosaic Nature" is a captivating 60" x 60" mixed media masterpiece that seamlessly blends earthy tones with vibrant splashes of color. The composition showcases a patchwork of geometric shapes—rectangles, squares, and freeform elements—all coexisting harmoniously, reminiscent of an urban landscape seen from a bird's eye view. Rehfeld's use of mustard yellows, rustic reds, and muted greens grounds the piece, while the bold strokes of white and black add depth and movement. Steven is also part of the 'Outsiders' school of art, originating in France in the 19th century. Also known as the Naïve movement, and was comprised of people with no art training at all, who suddenly started to paint. Many of them are from very challenging backgrounds. All they had was talent that had never before been tapped. In no time this movement became a major art phenomenon and spread all over the world.
His work, however, has branched out past the movement and his use of earth elements renders a basic and raw interpretation of his message.
