About the Item
“I Am the Garden” is part of the Lightness of Being series — a visual exploration of transformation, softness, and embodied presence.
This painting is about embracing oneself in all states: blooming and withering, sunlit and shadowed. It reflects the inner landscape of a woman, where butterflies are not merely symbols of beauty or grace, but quiet emblems of transformation, sensitivity, and the courage to evolve.
The white flowers scattered across movement and color speak of the purity of intention, even amidst the chaos of becoming. Yellow and red marks pulse like sparks of inner fire — a heart unfolding not because it should, but because it must.
This garden is not external. It grows within. In the body, in memory, in breath and silence. It doesn’t follow rules. It lives by its own rhythm. There’s room here for grief and joy, for stillness and motion.
This is a portrait of a woman who no longer looks for herself in the outside world.
She knows now —
she is the garden.
Wild. Whole. True.
Ukrainian artist Svitlana Lazoriak was born in 1984 in Ukraine. Early in her creative journey, she obtained a higher art education in University
and developed a career as a jewelry designer. For fourteen years,
Svitlana has been designing jewelry collections
Today, Svitlana focuses on painting, where she explores states that
allow for conscious living, self-discovery, and transformation. She
currently resides in Belgium. ARTIST STATEMENT As an artist, she explores the states women experience on their journey
to wholeness and deep self-awareness. Do spirituality and sexuality
conflict? Does a woman feel her feminine power and her connection
with generations? What does true self-love look like if we redefine our
essence without limiting it to the role of a sexual icon?
These questions allow for a deep dive into one’s nature, exploring it
through the lenses of the body, will, and worldview. Art is a unique
opportunity to create a space for reflection and transformation.
Svitlana draws strength and inspiration from the works of Frida Kahlo
and finds sacredness and rich traditions in the art of Ukrainian artist
Maria Prymachenko.

Juliette Gordon is a witty, perceptive, and highly intelligent artist. Her most iconic works are wickedly funny and sometimes highly political photocollages that were inspired by her involvement in the women’s movement of the early 1970s. At the time, she was exhibiting with the likes of Nancy Spero and May Stevens...
