About the Item
“Resonant Lines” is part of my Landscapes of the inner eye series of paintings which explore the memory of places that we carry in our imagination rather than the reality of those we actually see. A strong graphic narrative threads its way through all my work with a focus on composition that unearths a myriad of pattern, shape, colour and texture from the far-reaching views around the South Downs. The more you look, the more you see. I want each painting to take me somewhere different; somewhere I hadn’t planned to be.

ARTIST PROFILE: Tamara Williams, painter, printmaker and artist, has artworks available online and in our gallery at Wychwood Art. Tamara Williams is a contemporary British printmaker, painter and designer, working with mixed media, wood and plaster to create semi abstract, textured painting and prints. Her design background influences all her work, from a focus on texture and mark-making to the energy and freedom of abstract line work. Ideas are inspired by the natural world and start with drawing, using a variety of line weights, with the negative space as much a feature as the positive. The landscape around her studio near The Thames is an especially strong influence. The riverbank and surrounding fields, filled with their tangle of wildflowers and graphic shapes, are deconstructed into abstract layers of texture. Further afield, the Cornwall and Norfolk coastlines are also represented in her recent work.
