"Museum of Rainbow Light" (2020) is an abstract geometric oil and acrylic painting on canvas by Loren Abbate. It is a square shaped piece and measures 32 inches high by 32 inches wide. Custom framing is available if the collector is interested. This piece is exemplary of the artist's latest series of works that are inspired by gemstones and crystals. She uses specific stones to inspire each piece and uses her abstraction of the crystalline form to convey the mood it evokes. Many pieces in this series have a surreal, dreamlike, visionary quality where the artist imagines the cosmic and sentient world that exists inside a crystal. The facets of the gemstone refract light in different angles and create overlapping and unexpected yet complementary color tones. Her paintings are bright with saturated and vivid pigments. This piece conveys the colors of the rainbow and those projected when light hits a prism and is refracted into the full color spectrum. The artist's nonobjective, minimalist, geometric and biomorphic abstractions create homes for the figures in the foreground of the piece and on the surface of certain stage like, spotlighted facets of the piece-- a cosmic and visionary expression of a world that is sure to stimulate the viewer's imagination.
