Taylour Martin, a gifted artist born in Tacoma, Washington in 1991, embarked on her artistic journey at the age of 14 while residing in San Miguel De Allende, Mexico. It was here that she received invaluable artistic guidance and teachings from her grandmother. Though her time in Mexico lasted just a year, the impact of that period remains a fundamental influence on her artistry. At SOTA (School of the Arts) in Tacoma, Taylour further honed her skills and developed a distinctive artistic identity, delving deeper into techniques that would define her work. Currently based in the vibrant artistic landscape of Los Angeles, Martin's creations bear a deeply personal essence. Through her art, she channels her experiences and emotions onto the canvas, crafting pieces that resonate with joy and capture the essence of what it means to be human. Amidst the 2020 pandemic, Martin's artistic spirit reawakened. In the intimate confines of her apartment, she engaged in a soul-searching exploration of joy-inducing activities, and it was within this cocoon that the embers of her artistic fervor reignited. Martin's current artistic oeuvre is manifesting a fusion of minimalism and expressionism that transcends conventional boundaries. Her canvases, adorned with the visceral beauty of paint on exposed canvas, exude a mesmerizing interplay of form and emotion and echo the complexities of her personal journey. Taylour Martin draws inspiration from the belief that every individual possesses an innate artist within them, waiting to express themselves on the canvas. Her artistic mission revolves around granting that permission and encouraging others to channel their innermost feelings and thoughts onto the blank canvas, fostering a connection between the artist and the art that is truly profound.

Moody Blue - (24"x30", Grey and Blue, Minimal Abstract Painting)
By Andrea Stajan-Ferkul
Located in Mississauga, Ontario
Layers of paint build up this neutral palette where emphasis is placed on minimal composition. From a distance, the painting explores colour fields and geometric abstraction. Closer up, it's about subtle textures, intuitive mark-making, playful scribbles and remnants of colour. The blending of these two elements invites the viewer to experience a calm while stimulating, visual response.
//
Andrea Stajan-Ferkul is a Canadian artist whose work conveys a sense of experimentation through the use of paint, fabric collage and abstract mark-making. While not exclusive to fashion, dresses have been a compositional focus throughout her oeuvre. With an emphasis on timelessness, her series of dress paintings shift between realistic representation and interpretive impressions. In contrast, her series of abstract works embrace minimalism, considerate to a restrained palette and composition.
Stajan-Ferkul began her career in fashion advertising before shifting her focus to fine art in 2000. Her work has been exhibited widely through galleries and art fairs, and hangs in private and public collections across Canada, US and Europe. A graduate of Sheridan College of Art and Design, Stajan-Ferkul's paintings can be found in numerous public and private collections, her work has been published in magazines and book covers, and prints are distributed internationally. In 2009, Stajan-Ferkul was invited to exhibit her work in Ottawa’s Rideau Hall, hosted by (then) Governor General of Canada, Michaëlle Jean.
