About the Item
'Florentine Abstraction in Colour', Florentine School, acrylic on canvas mounted on board, circa 1980s-90s. A striking departure from the colourful figurative portraits from the same Florentine collection, this work explores abstract form and luminous colour fields. Painted in the late 20th century using acrylic, the composition layers rich tones of red, green, ochre, and teal in a patchwork of painterly blocks, softened by expressive brushwork and subtle blending.
The artist’s hand — associated with the same Florentine circle that produced our gallery's recently released portraits — here demonstrates a command of non-figurative modernism, with clear ties to European postwar abstraction. This piece makes an ideal complement to our portrait series, while standing alone as a strong example of Italian abstract modernism. This work is in overall good condition. It has been newly framed with a linen slip. It is unsigned. Please enjoy the many photos accompanying this listing. Upon request a video will be provided.

About the Art: This gallery has acquired a number of paintings through an intermediary of an ageing art professor from the Istituto di Arte di Porta Romana, Florence, Italy. The professor released works of artists whom he mentored over the years. We are unsure who painted the series we acquired as several are just signed, 'Giacomo', or, left completely unsigned, yet many are clearly by the same artist.
