About the Item
Urszula Wilk – artist statment:
I have always been interested in the idea of infiniteness of a painting and its opposite – that is the physical finiteness of the painting. This physical finiteness of a painting appears when the painting acquires its physical, material dimension. For me, the crucial thing is whether a painting, which was created in a certain period and constitutes a closed whole – can change. Through its modular construction the picture’s painting structure generates infiniteness within itself. Can a finished, in a sense “closed” whole become something new again and again? Can it expand and divide or overlap and thicken, transform all the time?
‘ If reality never rests, to paraphrase Futurist painter Boccioni, painting – once it has been drawn out of the frame of a painting – becomes an immaterial space that can be visited and crossed; it becomes an environment of light, a visual, spatial, total and involving experience.”
Urszula Wilk graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. In 1986 she received her diploma with honours at Professor Zbigniew Karpiński’s atelier. In 1987 and 1988 Urszula Wilk was a grantee of the Minister of Culture and Art. In 1989 she was awarded with the 1st Prize at the Eugeniusz Geppert Post-contest Painting Ehxibition. And in 1995 she received a grant from The Pollock-Krasner Foundation, New York, USA. Blue frost, Painting, Acrylic on Canvas
By Ivana Olbricht
Located in Yardley, PA
An original one-of-a-kind large abstract painting. Minimalistic yet powerful, inspired by frost, snow, and quite freezing winter nights. Multiple layers and using the artist's signature unique painting technique unable her to create unrepeatable texture and countless details. Shades of blue, mostly petrol blue, green-blue, and turquoise. The colors are blended spontaneously which results in expressive work to be observed by a viewer on an emotional level. The sides are painted with green-blue color. High-quality professional acrylic stretched canvas protected with varnish. Ready to hang. Signed on the back but I can sign it on the front as well upon the customer's request. Copyright ©2023 Ivana Olbricht All rights reserved.
