About the Item
This art - work is part of the project REFLEXUS.
The paint is made in the author's technique of painting by Vasili Zianko based acrylic painting on canvas using a variety of textures, washes, the finest glazing, volumetric contours. The art-work is readable for blind and visually impaired people by touch.
Project «REFLEXUS» includes 17 paintings (all – 100х110, canvas, acryl) and an installation, which consists of 12 mirrors (all 50х30), placed on the walls in three rows in the same distance from each other. In the gaps between the upper and the central rows of mirrors there is a volumetric sign «Objects in mirror are closer than appear». In one and a half meters from the wall with the mirrors, there are two paintings on one mount, one of which is turned with its front face to the viewer, and the other to the mirrors.
In the art project “REFLEXUS” (“Reflection”), the artist experiments with the human ability to perceive objects in the surrounding world using the senses and focuses on how a specific material object in the form of a set of images and concepts is reflected in human consciousness.
Author’s unique technique combines working with acrylic paints on canvas and a complex relief lining. The richness of the coloristic structure of the paintings achieves through repeated washings and advantageously sets off by the introduction of small graphic elements that emphasize the shape of the depicted object. The ornamental wavy lines of natural forms and slight asymmetry appeals to some stylistic features of Art Nouveau. At the same time, natural minimalism and rough textures originates from traditional African art. These techniques are subordinated to the individual author’s vision, so V. Zenko’s art works are always easily recognizable and have a unique sound power.
