Inscribed, verso, 'Wendy Trosper' for Wendy Trosper Deroux (American, 1941-2019), inscribed verso, 'Nude Painted Over' and 'Painted prior to 1967'.
Wendy Trosper graduated from Mills College with honors in 1963 and, subsequently, studied at the University of Washington under Robert Arneson, Constance Jarvis and Shoji Hamada. She also became an exhibited ceramicist and studied with Yangihara, Carlton Ball and Ken Shores.
Trosper exhibited widely and with success on the West Coast including at Mills College (1965), Burien Arts Festival (1970, 1969, 1965) and at the Henry Gallery (1961, 1963, 1964, 1969) among others. She was a member of the Northwest Designer's Craftsmen, the American Craft Council and the Seattle Clay Club. We are pleased to offer a substantial and elegant abstract from the artist's early period.
