About the Item

My work bridges the divide between sculpture and painting and drawing. Paintings are geometric masses of color in oil paint and wood dowels, on shaped canvas. Often grouped in diptychs, triptychs, or more, the surrounding space is activated, so that the entire wall becomes the canvas. Pieces appear sculptural, yet mount flat on the wall with no need for a frame. Unconventional perspective seemingly defies gravity in a boundless space. Inspired by vast open landscapes, my work is elastic. Paintings float in space. Drawings zoom in to focus on subtle intimate details. I feel the monumentality of the world, infinite air and the density of time past. I strive to work beyond the boundaries of the familiar to have the work evolve naturally. It’s a wabi-sabi thing. Process is visible. Brushstrokes, and underlying brushstrokes, reveal themselves. Shapes are loosely filled in. The work keeps on growing. Zen Corner (Ara Pacis Corner) Installation Instructions Please read before installing. Zen Corner is a sculpture more than it is a painting. It sits unassumingly in a corner. Someone entering the room might not notice it immediately. When they do, it’s intriguing. It is intended to be installed in a corner at two adjoining walls and the floor. Ideally, any baseboards should be cut away to exactly fit the corner, flat against the adjoining walls. (Some collectors may prefer to install it in a corner on the ceiling, as opposed to on the floor.) The artwork is delivered flat as shown below. Dowel (a) goes into the corner by the floor. Few corners in homes and offices are perfectly square. Adjust the panels of the artwork to meet in the best possible position, so we do not see the floor where the panels meet. As an option, I’ve attached Velcro to the back of the artwork to facilitate installation. Once the Velcro is attached to the wall, you will not be able to reposition it. Velcro will damage the wall surface when you remove it. You may consider using “artist tape” to protect the wall, behind each piece of Velcro. You may choose a different adhesive if you prefer.

Norma Márquez Orozco, The Sun, 2016, Translucent Paper, 30 x 30, Minimalist
By Norma Marquez Orozco
Located in Darien, CT
Norma Marquez Orozco explores concepts of impermanence, perception, form and balance through physical movement of the work itself in a lucid, game-like context, like puzzles. All the elements are made of paper, molded into three-dimensional forms. The repetitive geometric shapes are assembled inside boxes built out of translucent paper. The arrangement is random and unfixed to allow movement and unpredictable composition. The harmonies and tensions in the work arise from different exchanges between the colors, the patterns, and the geometric and organic shapes, as well as the sense that change is constantly occurring as the elements shift and move. When one looks at these compositions, you see them for the first time, every time, because what is creating and completing the artwork is always changing; such as light, weather and forms merge and interact. As a result of these dynamic relationships, the work extends beyond her personal hand, sustaining an appearance and composition entirely of its own. Norma Márquez Orozco was

Folded Flat Linen 03 Unique work 2016 Dimensions: H: 35 cm / W: 36 cm / D: 9 cm Materials: architectural wire mesh, raw linen Born in 1962 in Boulogne-Billancourt, France, Sebastien De Ganay studied political science and film at Columbia University in New York 1986-1990 ( (Bachelor of Political Science, Master of Fine Arts in Cinema) and is co-founder and editor of the art book publishing house onestar press. In addition to numerous exhibition participations, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Landesmuseum Österreich in St. Pölten, Austria, the Institut Français in Vienna showed a comprehensive solo exhibition of the artist in 2014. In 2017, de Ganay realized a highly acclaimed installation for the Kunsthalle Krems. de Ganay lives and works in Austria. de Ganay produces minimalist abstract art works, painting, relief and wall sculpture. Sculptures made of aluminum, linen fabric, plastic, oil painting, wood and other materials. de Ganay joins a tradition of experimental artists. In this sense, for example, the Achromes by the Italian Arte-Povera artist Piero Manzoni, created in the 1960s, point the way for de Ganay's examination of folded linen fabric. "The process of de Ganay's Painting is the process of thought itself; it is a process which turns not away from painting, but towards it. And rather than seeing painting as closure, he presents his work to us as a space of multiple openings, layers, shadows and reflections. Painting is, as much as an object or a process, a state of flux." (Adrian Searle, art critic for The Guardian, London (1994)) In the style of Readymades and Arte Povera, de Ganay starts out from a simple utility material and combines this with an examination of the surface in the tradition of Minimal Art. He designed a limited edition chair "PLEASE" a “4 Piece Chair” customized by John Baldessari, Lawrence Weiner and Rirkrit Tiravanija.
