Dragana Milovic
'Lovely Memories, ' by Dragana Milovic, Acrylic on Canvas Painting

2020

About the Item

This surrealistic acrylic painting on canvas by Dragana Milovic depicts her impressions and dream images after moving to the central US. As a Serbian painter whose professional life was primarily European, the images were new and inspirational. The horse, clown, cat woman with pearls, and heart balloon images placed in a circle loosely on the canvas are all reminiscent of the dance of the circus, or rodeo. The predominant colors are a light blue background with deep purple center with images and objects mostly in blacks and whites. "After moving to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma my first impressions were formed by a visit to a rodeo, seeing cowboys competing and a nearby antique shop, which felt to me like a small museum of another era. The atmosphere I experienced that day inspired new creative ideas. Certain elements of that experience are incorporated into the composition of this painting." - Dragana Milovic Dragana Milovic, born in Montenegro in 1969, earned her art degree in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Belgrade in Belgrade, Serbia. After an initial period of artistic painting in Belgrade she moved to London in the United Kingdom, where she lived, painted/created and taught art for 15 years. In 2017, Dragana relocated to the United States. She currently lives and works as a professional artistic painter in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Dragana has exhibited her work in a number of exhibitions, both solo and group exhibitions and art symposiums throughout Europe. Her works are a part of many public and private collections.

By Katarina Dordevic
Located in Oklahoma City, OK
This 38" x 26.25" acrylic on canvas painting by artist Katarina Dordevic refers to the transformation of the form and visual integrity, the conversion of samples displaced from the authentic temporal and spatial frames. The objects in the painting cannot be directly linked to the content of the literary origin or motif. These segments are quotes of descriptive elements from prehistoric votive sculptures of idols (the Paleolithic culture from Lepenski vir, the oldest urban settlement in Europe, situated at the banks of the Danube river, around 8,5 millennia old. They were shaped as unique anthropomorphic entities that represented presumably river deities. The meanings that were given to these symbolical sculptures changed over time, but the strange expression of the stone idols...

A beautifully rendered Damien Hirst painting defined by strong colors, classic Hirst motifs & a unique overall presence. Artist Bio: Damien Hirst is a British Conceptual artist known for his controversial take on beauty and found-art objects. Along with Liam Gillick, Tracey Emin, and Sarah Lucas, Hirst was part of the Young British Artists movement that rose to prominence in the early 1990s. “I have always been aware that you have to get people listening before you can change their minds,” he reflected. “Any artist's big fear is being ignored, so if you get debate, that's great.” Born on June 7, 1965 in Bristol, United Kingdom, Hirst was raised in Leeds. As a student at Goldsmiths College in London, his work caught the eye of the collector and gallerist Charles Saatchi, who became an early patron. Hirst’s The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living (1991)—a large vitrine containing an Australian tiger shark suspended in formaldehyde—was financed by Saatchi and helped to launch the artist’s career. Hirst went on to win the coveted Turner Prize in 1995. In 2012, he showed what went on to be one of his most controversial work in decades, the installation In and Out of Love, which consisted of two white windowless rooms in which over 9,000 butterflies flitted around and died. In 2015 Hirst opened the Newport Street Gallery in London, which grew from his long-term ambition to share his art collection with the public. The artist lives and works in London, United Kingdom. His works are held in the collections of the Tate Gallery in London, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C., and the Rubell Family Collection in Miami.
