"Your Move" depicts an flock of birds, sitting on abstracted branches against a pale blue sky. Holswade says of his new works, "The new paintings reflect my interest in mythology, symbolism and repetition. I have always liked how a simple image can become a symbol as soon as the viewer interprets it to mean something other than its literal definition. But I also wanted the work to feel like it had a function, like a game, a tarot card or on old carnival poster, so there would be a curiousity behind what was being presented." Signed lower right, "Eric J Holswade, 2019" and verso, "Your Move, Eric J Holswade, 2019."
