About the Item

A painting by Eric Jon Holswade "Shooting Gallery" is an acrylic on panel painting executed primarily in a palette of reds, yellows, blues and black and depicts birds on a picket fence by contemporary artist Eric Jon Holswade. "Shooting Gallery" reflects Holswade's interest in mythology, symbolism and repetition; the simple image of the bird becoming a symbol for the viewer to interpret. Of his most recent works, Holswade states, " I also wanted the work to feel like it had a function, like a game, a tarot card or on old carnival poster, so there would be a curiousity behind what was being presented. I made a sketch of the bird simply because it had such a strong symbolic quality." Signed lower right, "Eric J Holwade, 2019" and verso "Shooting Gallery, Eric J Holswade, 2019."
