    ‘Longhorn Cattle on a Highland Pass’ by Henry Garland (1834-1913). The painting – which depicts a herd of longhorn cattle on a high mountain pass in the Scottish Highlands – is signed and dated 1876, in which year it was exhibited at the Royal Society of British Artists in London. Henry Garland entered the Royal Academy Schools in 1853, winning medals for 'Best Drawing from the Life' in both 1854 and 1857. From 1854 he exhibited at the most prominent London venues having 30 paintings shown at the Royal Academy, 67 at the Royal Society of British Artists, and 12 at the British Institution.
