Eastern Wild Turkey /// Ornithology Bird Wildlife Contemporary Painting Animal
Located in Saint Augustine, FL
Artist: Ron Louque (American, 1952-) Title: "Eastern Wild Turkey" *Signed and dated by Louque lower right Year: 1976 Medium: Original Gouache/Watercolor Painting on Illustration Board Board size: 30" x 40" Condition: Some minor edge wear from previous framing; it was previously framed within Louque's personal collection. In excellent condition Notes: During Louque's entire artist's career, he has executed only four original Turkey paintings. This being the last example remaining, it is the first time offered for sale to the public. An original painting by Ron Louque is an excellent addition to any Ornithology or general Natural History art collection. We are the only source for Louque's original paintings. The wild turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) is an upland ground bird native to North America and is the heaviest member of the diverse Galliformes. It is the same species as the domestic turkey, which was originally derived from a southern Mexican subspecies of wild turkey (not the related ocellated turkey). Although native to North America, the turkey probably got its name from the domesticated variety being imported to Britain in ships coming from the Levant via Spain. The British at the time therefore associated the wild turkey with the country Turkey and the name prevails. Biography: Ron Louque (1952-) is an American artist born in New Orleans, LA. His paintings have been featured on 34 State Conservation Stamps. He won the Federal Duck Stamp...

Goldie’s Dream
By Gregory Gillespie
Located in Concord, MA
GREGORY GILLESPIE (1936-2000) Goldie’s Dream, 1999 Oil on panel 20 1/8 x 19 5/8 inches Signed verso: Greg Gillespie Original frame PROVENANCE Forum Gallery, New York, New York (label verso) Nielson Gallery, Boston, Massachusetts (label verso) EXHIBITED Forum Gallery, New York, Gregory Gillespie: New Works, December 2 - 31, 1999 Gregory Gillespie, an artist whose probing, urgent, often bizarre paintings occupied a singular place in the history of late-20th-century representational art committed suicide in 2000 at the age of sixty-four. His art was known for an obsessive attention to realistic detail, but the term realist fit only a narrow swath of his sensibility. He once told an interviewer that he was seeking a reality ''beyond our sense,'' and he pursued it with a variety of artistic styles, techniques and references. He mixed his realism with Expressionist distortion and Surrealistic juxtaposition, just as he supplemented his meticulously applied oil paint with roiling brushwork, photomontage, collage, assemblage, thickly built-up surfaces and, recently, photocopied images. He also found inspiration in several centuries of European painters, including Balthus, Bacon, Beckmann, Bosch, Breugel, Van Eyck, Masaccio and Crivelli. He drew from, and frequently depicted motifs from, Indian sculpture, Tibetan mandalas...

Frame size 73x86 cm. Ignacio Gil Sala, was a painter, bohemian character, adventurous and intrepid traveler who knew how to capture his eyes to that world with his painting. Already in 1930, being still almost an apprentice, he obtained the bronze medal of the School, and in 1936 he won by contest a scholarship to make a study trip through Spain. Throughout his life Ignacio Gil dedicated himself to travel both in the Peninsula and in different Islamic and Latin American countries. He exhibited his work in Spain, France, the Philippines, Switzerland, the United States, Canada and Colombia, among many other countries.
