Simon Ludwig Ditlev Simonsen Canvas Size: 21 x 16" (52.5 x 40cm) Outside Frame Size: 31 x 26" (77.5 x 65cm) 1841-1928 Free Shipping An excellent example of his work in fantastic condition for its age. He was a Danish painter of figures and animals- chiefly horses and dogs. Simonsen was born in Munich 19 January 1841and was the son and pupil of Niels Simonsen. He furthered his studies at the Kunstakademi in Copenhagen and then in Chevreuse under August Bonheur. He mainly used oils and typical titles of his work were; “Pointer with Prey” (1895) and “Horse and Basset Hound”. The museum at Hillerod ( Frederiksborg Sloth): Redoubts at Duppel holds his work and he continues to sell well at auction houses throughout the world.
