This is a portrait of two children, a brother and sister. They confront the viewer with serious and self possessed expressions. They are innocent but not to be taken lightly. I depict children as individuals not as appendages of a mother or as part of a family unit. In this portrait I hope to capture the qualities of gravity, dignity and solemnity, aspects of a child’s demeanour that is often disregarded.
