About the Item
This painting reflects the Hebrides and particularly Skye with its rugged terrain and wild weather. The atmosphere and wild beauty of the place gives me so much inspiration to capture the essence of the island through paint. This painting is completed mainly in muted blues to represent the evening light as dusk returns to the island. The Cuillin mountains with their imposing backdrop became an important feature in the work, this painting is unframed for you to choose the most effective finish for your interior.

I love being in nature and concentrate on using paint as a vehicle to convey the intimacy of my surroundings and the sense of belonging and affinity with landscape. The landscape drives me to capture atmosphere when I am in wild places and I use these feelings and experiences in a very loose and ephemeral way to create my own personal view of the landscape. Most of my work is completed in the studio after drawing and painting outdoors.
