Aurora, 19th Century Painting, After Guido Reni

About the Item

Wonderful 19th century copy of Guido Reni's masterpiece, The Aurora, a large Baroque ceiling fresco painted in 1614 for the Casino, or garden house, adjacent to the Palazzo Pallavicini-Rospigliosi, in Rome. The work is considered Reni's masterpiece. This lovely copy retains it's vibrant colours and has a wonderful patina and craquelure throughout. Originally part of a trumeau mirror, the canvas has been relined. Some small areas of previous retouching mildly visible. Unframed. Framing available upon request.
