About the Item

Alex Balaguer BALAGUER , Alex ( Barcelona 1968 ) During early childhood, Àlex Balaguer began to sketch motorcars symbolic of Maranello’s trademark vehicle. Self-taught in the art world, Balaguer decided to unite his big love of motoring and painting. Ferrari is symbolic of motor racing and Formula 1 and the protagonist in most of his work. His technical print training shows great faithfulness to the models reproduced. Balaguer works with oil and the Ferrari red is considered a rewarding colour full of potential. He has completed many works for all vehicles types, which he may commission for a day and then cherish as a fond memory. The director of the Barcelona gallery association wrote the following in honour of Balaguer: “Balaguer – Imagination is just a pretext…the art world is fascinating, full of colour, passion and contradictions. Art is a document of critique and hope. Art pushes to explore and think outside of the box. On his journey Balaguer finds a way to communicate thorough his car themes. The talent of this young painter is impressive for his constant search for fresh, temperate and testimonial work. His brushstroke through fabric is rigorous and elegant worthy of a great teacher. I am a follower of his work and deliberation. The surprise from his proposals leads me to suggest that you are constantly looking behind his artistic declarations, because I believe that this is a formula to keep the world alive and the object trapped in view. The space for memories and dreams always keeps us on tenterhooks and initiate wishful thinking. His works are carried out with great courage reflecting the richness of textures and nuances that can be achieved through boldness and directness. Power is the obvious expressive component. The central theme of imagination is the subject, the car as a pretext. It is subjected to stress without falling into sensationalism bestowed with strongly charged emotion whilst approaching the world. In some cases, the imagination shows its formality as it enters into a phenomenon closing in on the dramatic movement and expressive voice that suggests a physiological space in which hope dominates this particular”….

Les Guilleries. Original acrylic canvas painting Casimiro Martínez Tarrassó, a painter known simply as Tarrassó. He was trained at the La Llotja School in Barcelona. He completed his studies in Paris, where he got to know first-hand the Fauvist works that were shaking the Parisian art scene at the time. This Fauve influence will continue to be palpable in his work throughout his life in features such as the strong chromatic contrast, the elevated and somewhat exaggerated perspective, the absolute disinterest in the human figure, which appears only sketched as a complement to the landscape, and the representation of trees as electrified, subjected to tortuous inclinations. It is these formal features that give his works their own vitality and reduce their connection with the referential to a mere pretext. Tarrassó followed in the wake of the great Catalan landscape painters, paying particular attention to Joaquín Mir, although with a clearly differentiated personality due in part to the impact that Fauvism had on his artistic thinking. He cultivated still life and Catalan and Majorcan landscapes. He held his first exhibition in 1928 in Barcelona. Since then his shows have followed in Barcelona, Madrid, Palma de Mallorca and Bilbao. In 1935 he visited Mallorca for the first time, and from 1940 on he will have a studio there, specifically in Palma, where he lived for long periods and developed most of his artistic production. After the Civil War, during the 1940s, Tarrassó took part in several National Exhibitions of Fine Arts, in their editions of 1942, 1943 and 1950. Although the landscape was always the center of his production, Tarrassó also made works such as the mural decoration of the church of Santa María de Badalona. In Mallorca he also carried out a unique undertaking, planting his trestle in the Campanet caves to capture the stalactites and stalagmites from their stone cavities, developing a series of works that he presented in 1948. Throughout his career, Tarrassó was awarded the Pollença Prize of the I International Painting Contest, in 1962; the Santiago Rusiñol...

She closed her eyes #7 Zahra Zeinali 21st Century Iranian painting child world
By Zahra Zeinali
Located in Paris, FR
Acrylic paint on canvas Signed on the back Zahra ZEINALI was born in 1975 in Tehran, Iran. From 2001 to 2004, she studied Fine arts at the Art and Architecture University in Tehran. At the same time, she taught visual arts to children during 15 years. Passionate about photography, she trained in photography in 2007 at the House of Photography in Tehran. In 2012, she moved to France. Confronted with her new life, her vision of the world changed. Since 2020, she has resumed training in photography at the EFET School in Paris. Zahra ZEINALI The Doll’s House “What can a true artistic temperament aspire to after a youth spent in Iran today? To flee the hassles, prejudices, restrictions, to open wide a window of freedom rich in potentialities that were believed for a long time inaccessible. Zahra Zeinali became a visual arts teacher for fifteen years. Her pupils are 6 to 12 years old. Drawing, sculpture, painting, model design, she taught them a great diversity of techniques, but above all to think and design freely by themselves, in an atmosphere of joyful creative disorder which, surprisingly, is tolerated by a careful hierarchy. Then she studied four years at the University of Art and Architecture in Tehran. When she arrived in France, after a brief abstract period inspired by the rhythms of nature, it was at the time of the Charlie Hebdo and Bataclan attacks, which marked her deeply, to the point of lastingly darkening the ideal of emancipation and autonomy that she had projected on her stay in Paris. "There is no paradise on earth" she concluded with a melancholy smile. An old doll, bought for 1 euro in a storage room, triggers a click in her. The bitter imprint left by the Iranian confinement, the memory of her fifteen years of teaching visual arts to children, the loneliness of her Parisian exile, all this sentimental nebula found a plastic metaphor in the image of the doll. This is what these delicate earthenware faces evoke, often abused, abandoned, the childish innocence of their ingenuous gazes, a sort of strange absence from the world of the living, as if their attenuated life took place behind the mystery of a theater curtain...
