About the Item

Love / Roses / Flowers / Pink / Couple / Pair / Allison Green grew up on the outskirts of a lush forest in Pennsylvania, an experience that continues to inform her artistic practice. Primarily a painter, Green is best known for her large-scale, detailed paintings of trees isolated against jewel-toned backgrounds—a body of work she describes as “Arboreal Portraits”. “When viewed together, these trees appear as a family, united by their compositional structure, yet distinctively different from one another,” she describes. The works carry a feminist sentiment; Green names each tree after a woman who has influenced her identity, expressing the powerful relationships between women through the “venerable symbol of the family tree,” as she describes. In another series, Green created portraits of birch trees, posed and anthropomorphized by their titles like Midnight Lovers and Wedding Portrait. In this painting entitled July Roses, Green depicts a hedge of pink roses against a blue background.

mixed media on wood Artist’s Statement Primarily a painter, I use a hybrid visual language that is both abstract and figurative, and fuse domestic and landscape imagery. I build eccentric formats that promote an improvisational attitude toward composition and playfully references the instability and dislocation characteristic of contemporary life. In my work, as in life, the past permeates the present and the commonplace collides with the enigmatic and inexplicable. I make short experimental films using stop motion technique that incorporates sound as well as written and spoken poetic text. Filmmaking significantly broadens the content of my work, and naturally cross-pollinates with my on going painting projects. Drawing is the core of my studio practice and the engine that drives everything I make. Artist Biography Miriam Hitchcock is a painter and experimental filmmaker whose work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. In 2021 her paintings were profiled and featured on the cover of the book, Artists of the Bay Area Volume 1, published by Jen Tough...

"This painting wants immerse the viewer directly into the snowy scenario of Turin. The buildings in the background are transformed into magic flutes that play the music described in the flying scores. I am particularly attached to this city because I lived in Piedmont for three years". Sabrina Pugliese BIOGRAPHY Sabrina Pugliese was born on April 2nd, 1990 in a small village in the Southern Italy, Nova Siri. Since she was a child, she was interested in arts in their different forms: singing, playing piano and visual arts. She graduated in Modern Literature at the University of Urbino, in the heart of the Italian Renaissance, the birthplace of Raffaello Sanzio. She didn’t have the chance to attend artistic high school because it was too far from home. So, after the graduation, she began to devote herself to her passions: painting, exclusively oil on canvas. She has started painting as a self-trained painter to promote and improve her territory, Basilicata, also named Lucania. Nowadays, she expanded her project because she wants to spread Mediterranean holidays’ colours, sounds and perfumes, with the image of the sea, all over the world. She knows that painting can give voice to landscapes of the soul through seascapes. She lived for ten years away from home to study and work and, in this way, she created a stronger relationship with her origins. During the pandemic, she has decided to return to Basilicata to offer her small contribution to the Southern of Italy. She has participated in several national and international exhibitions including: • Collective exhibition with two painters: Giulio Orioli e Nino Oriolo for “Night of the brigands” 2019, in Nova Siri Centre (MT) thank to collaboration of Maria De Lorenzo...
