About the Item
Measuring nearly two metres in height, this fantastic large painting will be an excellent addition to a large, grand interior space. It is the work of the Italian painter Angelo Urbani del Fabbretto, active early 20th Century, and depicts a wonderfully-rendered, idyllic bathing scene with nymphs, winged putti and mythical, Classical-style sea creatures.
In the foreground, there are two military figures - Cavaliers - shown observing the scene. Above them, two putti are shown pulling back a large tassled curtain, playfully revealing the idyllic scene both to the viewer and to the observing Cavalier figures. The finely rendered backdrop depicts a picturesque riverscape, with trees, rocks and a clear blue sky.
The decorative painting, full of pastoral charm and Classical elegance, is glazed and housed in a metal frame, and is signed 'FABBRETTO' to the bottom right hand corner.
