Ariel Vargassal
"Insatiable" Contemporary Hyperrealism Framed Acrylic on Canvas Painting

About the Item

"Insatiable" is a framed acrylic work on canvas by Ariel Vargassal, depicting a man in a suit being bombarded by sugary donuts while holding a daisy adorned with a bumblebee. The hyperrealistic style includes a stunning amount of detail, with attention given to every colorful sprinkle and delicate flower petal. Vargassal's paintings often have uncanny narrative elements, fitting them squarely into the Magical Realism genre. The artist's story behind this piece: "Fast paced life, superficiality, have become our normal. There are moments we need to stop, seat and feel the ground, with our bare feet, and connect with the earth, the peace will come and will see nature in their simplicity and at the same time the magnificence, the beauty of the visuals, the sounds, the connection. We are part of it, and all of the sudden we understand more of who we are." This piece is finished in a silver floater frame with subtle beveling and a dark woodgrain effect along the frame’s interior and sides. Pricing includes the pictured frame. Unframed dimensions are 60 x 48 inches. More about the artist: Ariel Vargassal was born into a family of richly mixed culture. These cultural singularities introduced Ariel to undeniable senses of style. He always leaned towards the arts, and when he was not molding small clay sculptures, he turned to countless drawings in his notebook. Therefore, it was logical that Ariel study at the University of Mexico to earn a Bachelor's of Fine Art. In studying the works of the great artists who preceded him, his passion ignited and his determination proved unstoppable. Upon graduation, Ariel became one of the youngest teachers to teach art at a high school in Mexico City, and had the opportunity to showcase his work in different places, including the prestigious Polyforum Cultural Siqueiros. His first international exhibition was in Salt Lake City, Utah during the Winter Olympic Games as a host of the city, representing the visual arts of Mexico. After this exhibition, Ariel received invitations to showcase his work in area galleries as well as offers elsewhere in the US, so he decided to move to Los Angeles. Vargassal’s work has been seen in various digital publications, books, and television programs. In addition, he has been fortunate to work with young Hollywood stars as his models and clients. Apart from Mexico City, Salt Lake City, and Los Angeles, Ariel has shown his work in Arizona, San Francisco, and New York. He is a member of the Los Angeles Art Association, one of the oldest and most prestigious art associations on the West Coast. He worked with International Curators in early 2013, his work was presented at the International Surrealism Exhibition in Lisbon, Portugal, and he recently received invitations to exhibit in Canada, Germany, and France.

Photorealism Still Life Acrylic Painting Flower Photo Realist Orchid, Vivid Blue
By Clarence Measelle
Located in Surfside, FL
Close up of a flower. canvas measures 30 X24 inches. Clarence Skip Measelle has been featured in over 100 gallery and museum exhibitions, competitions, group shows, and solo shows throughout the US. He is best known for his work in photorealism and abstract illusionism. The name Photorealism (also known as Hyperrealism or Superrealism) was coined in reference to those artists whose work depended heavily on photographs, which they often projected onto canvas allowing images to be replicated with precision and accuracy. The exactness was often aided further by the use of an airbrush, which was originally designed to retouch photographs. The movement came about within the same period and context as Conceptual art, Pop art, and Minimalism and expressed a strong interest in realism in art, over that of idealism and abstraction. The first Photo realists were Chuck Close, Don Eddy, Richard Estes, Ralph Goings, Robert Bechtle, Audrey Flack, Denis Peterson, Lowel Nesbitt and Malcolm Morley. Each began practicing some form of Photorealism around the same time, often utilizing different modes of application and techniques, and citing different inspirations for their work. However, for the most part they all worked independent from one another. For example, Chuck Close came of age at the height of Pop art and Andy Warhol's Factory, and was based out of SoHo in lower Manhattan. And Audrey Flack, a graduate of Yale, began creating photo-based works in the early 1960s. Select Solo Exhibitions Armory Art Center, West Palm Beach, Fl.
