Arthur Prince Spear: 1879-1959. Well listed American painter with auction results up to $6900, but sells for much more in galleries as his works are fairly rare. He is known for his imaginary paintings of nymphs, fauns and under-sea dwellers. This work could possibly be a study as most of his works are larger. It is painted on artist board and measures 11 3/4 inches high by 9 3/4 wide. The frame which is period and could be original measures 18 1/2 inches high by 16 1/2 wide It is signed lower right.
