About the Item

This large almost 8 feet wide oil and acrylic on canvas painting brings the feel of the ocean right into your home. The blues and aqua of the background of the painting along with the movement created by the swirling brush strokes creates the feel of the beach and ocean. If you live on the ocean, it complements that ocean view. If you don't live on the ocean it brings the vacation feel to your home. The painting measures 68x88" . Ceravolo's Large scale paintings have received international acclaim for more three decades. His art is in many influential corporate and private collections, including: ELTON JOHN, ROD STEWART, HUGH M. HEFNER, DAVID BRENNER, MONIQUE VAN VOOREN, WARNER BROS., RCA RECORDS AND SCHENLEY INDUSTRIES to name a few, his art came to popular attention when he was commissioned to create six large scale paintings for the lobby of The Palladium Theatre in New York City. This original oil and acrylic painting titled "Young Marilyn at the Beach Tug of War" was featured at the Bridgehampton Museum, this large oil and acrylic on canvas measures 68x88". Created in 2018 in Ceravolo's Urban Pop style, in which Ceravolo always includes his gopher "G". Ceravolo first creates the abstract painting over the entire canvas. He then thinks about what type of image will work best with the abstract he has just created. In this particular painting the abstract creation had the feel of the ocean, so he painted an image of a young Marilyn Monroe over the abstract painting he just created. She is painted in Ceravolo's instantly recognizable urban pop art style. The painting of a young Marilyn having a tug of war at the beach while "G" looks on wearing his swim trunks features Marilyn wearing a stars and stripes bathing suit, while having a remarkable look of innocence on her face. Ceravolo's paintings combine abstract and realistic work on the same large scale canvas. Sometimes the abstract work is in the form of Ceravolo's trademark "illusion" which appears to be "floating" in front of the canvas, other times the abstract work is a spontaneous application of paint which adds color and texture and is in perfect compliment to the gray realistic image.
