Charles Hunt Jr.
The Rabbit Hutch, Charles Hunt, Jr, British, Children, Animals

About the Item

Charles Hunt, Jr. was born in Kensington, London, in 1829 and was part of a dynasty of painters. He was the son of the genre painter Charles Hunt (1803-1877) and father to four sons who all became artists. Hunt exhibited at the Royal Academy and also at the Royal Society of Artists, Birmingham. He was known for his genre scenes of the English countryside which often featured farm animals. In this charming painting, the three sisters are checking in on their pet rabbit. During the first four years he copied the works of the old Dutch and Flemish masters. Barker exhibited at the Royal Academy and the British Institution.
