'Pistil' A young ladies body changing from childhood to adulthood along with caterpillar to butterfly. Her innocence is tarnished with a vine of thorns that surrounds her body. Condition excellent. Artist signed, titled, dated Verso. Painted by Okada in 2016. The panel is 8 x 6inches and wired and ready to hang and enjoy for a lifetime. Chikako Okada’s autobiographical oil paintings, bridge traditional realism with magical realism and surrealism. She is inspired by European Masters, Frida Khalo, and the American Surrealists. Okada uniquely addresses questions of the human condition through her meticulously detailed, and patterned paintings. They are mesmerizing, rich in symbolism, and reference power, vulnerability, sadness, longing, and desire. The images often feature young women, girls, and boys that are mysteriously posed, leaving their circumstances to the viewer's interpretation.
