About the Item
Heidi von Faber (Dutch artist)
Tea Cups
30 x 30 cm (framed, included in price 33 x 33 cm)
Acryl on canvas
In the paintings of The Hague-based artist Heidi von Faber, light plays a key role, often set against dark backgrounds.
Her contemporary compositions feature classic lighting, always originating from the left. With von Faber, "playing with light" can be taken quite literally—she skillfully creates entirely different atmospheres simply by repositioning the light source.
The artist draws her inspiration from "the old Dutch masters," where light also plays a central role. The simplicity of the objects gives her work a contemporary feel. Glass objects, with or without contents, colorful fruits, coffee cups, rustic bread—these often appear in her work. Over the years, it has become evident that the artist hardly excludes any material. Metal (bronze, silver, gold), fabric, fruits, glass, ceramics, plastics—all make an appearance in her paintings. Despite this wide variety, her subjects always form a "logical whole" when combined in a painting. The atmospheric and warm still lifes evoke a cheerful coziness, enticing delicacies, or a profound sense of calm. But whatever the subject or mood, there is always a perfect balance.
Heidi von Faber explains:
"I like to create a calming image without unnecessary embellishments. Through simplicity and the choice of objects—often everyday items—my work gains a modern character. I find it important that the composition forms a logical whole and has an atmospheric appearance."
With her approach and compositions, the artist offers a unique interpretation and contribution to the still-life genre.

Heidi von Faber
Heidi Von Faber lives and works in The Hague, Holland. The Hague artist Heidi Von Faber makes still lifes according to the tradition of the old masters. Her often dark still lifes show extremely realistic contemporary atmospheric subjects. Everyday, but also special subjects such as cups for the coffee machine and macaroons in a bowl for coffee next to a beautiful coffee machine. Very special because of the light against the extremely dark background. Heidi Von Faber herself about this: I like to create a calming image without frills. The simplicity and the subjects, often used in everyday life, give the work a contemporary look. I think it is important that the composition forms a logical whole and has an atmospheric appearance. The artist gives her own interpretation and addition to the 'still life genre' through her working method and compositions.
