About

This artwork depicts a herd of sheeps led by three wolves on the paved bridge leading to the empty streets of a small port town with stone and half-timbered houses (actually Saint-Goustan, in Brittany, France). Grass and flowers emerge from the pavement. According to the color of cirrus clouds in the sky, the sunset is coming. All sheeps but one have colored wool, each its own. The only "natural" sheep is actually the one following the wolves, ahead of the others, and it is standing looking back, as if hesitating. All other sheeps are blindly following it, eyes closed, except one on the outer left. This painting is a straightforward allegory of human societies. This artwork is delivered with an magnificent large blue-gray, brown and beige molded frame. Henriette Gorbitz is a naïve/primitive French artist, passionate about Jean Giono. She wishes to transmit the beauty of the nature, but also its fragile yet immutable sides.
