In ‘song’s of summer’s eve’ Lee Tiller has created the perfect evocation of a hazy summer’s day as it is about to slip gently into twilight. Using a warm palette of greens, gold’s and yellows; Song’s of Summer’s Eve is an invitation to wander and wonder at the splendour of nature. The quality of light that Lee captures is only achievable using the broken colour and the flamboyant brush strokes associated with impressionism. Tiller paints in the same tradition as the original French impressionists, and strives to recreate the sensation of experiencing a fleeting moment in time. Hidden with his brushstrokes are colours that often surprise and confound, yet when viewed as a whole, form a harmonious effect similar to the expression of a musical chord. Individual notes that work as harmony when blended together. Having developed a reputation for painting nature and the effects of light, Lee’s work is often mentioned alongside the great works of Monet and Pissarro. Tiller reveals as much with colour within the shadows as you would expect to find in the full radiance of reflected sunlight. ‘Song’s of summer’s eve’ will make a fine centrepiece for any room. A sister painting called ‘Songs of Summer’s Morn’ is currently on the easel in his studio tucked away in the mountains of Kerry, Ireland.
