About the Item

Original oil on wooden panel painting of a young child begging for a coin. The painting is attributed to the hand of Leopoldo Dumini. Circa 1865. Condition is very good. Titled on panel verso. Third line reads “Original sketch from life by Leopoldo Dumini”. Dumini & Son, Florence, Italy label verso. The painting is housed in its original elaborately ornate gold frame in fine condition. Overall framed measurements are 18.5 by 14.5 inches. Provenance: A Sarasota, Florida estate. Leopoldo Dumini was a Florentine artist known for his academic portraits and genre paintings. He was active in the middle and late 19th century. One of his portraits is held by the National Trust. He is the father of Adolfo Dumini, also a painter.
