This painting was exhibited at the Salon Indépendants in 1964, label on verso,
Louis-André Margantin was a student at the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs.
His work appeared in Paris at the Salon des Artistes Indépendants from 1924 and at the Salon des Surindépendants from 1933 to 1938.
He was invited to send his works to the Train-Exposition of 1935.
He took part in the Exposition Universelle of 1937.
In 1939 the Musée-École in Laval presented 70 of his paintings; and in 1945 the Salon des Artistes Indépendants in Paris
